Mechanically very similar to the 996, with a more 'classic' Porsche look. PDK and direct injection introduced in 2009. 
  • Sold from 2006 to 2011. (2012 on GT3 RS 4.0)
  • Water-cooled M97 engine on C2/C4 until 2009, then DFI. Mezger on the GT3 and GT2 / Turbo
  • Displacement from 3.6 to 4.0 liters
  • Facelift model offered in 2009. DFI, PDK, LED lighting.
